Single Review: Matt Cardle – Amazing
Matt Cardle is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist from Essex who won the seventh series of The X Factor. Since then he has released his debut studio album ‘Letters’. His third single from his debut album entitled ‘Amazing’ packs his single of the same name along with a studio recording of his rendition of the beautiful song ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’, a brand spanking new song called ‘All I Said’ and a live version of ‘Slowly’ from The Koko Lounge in London.
The genre of the single is Soft Rock with spectacular vocals and guitar from the man himself, Matt Cardle. The vocals from Cardle are as amazing as ever and are especially at there best on his beautiful emotive rendition of ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ that stays close to the sound of the original which is good because it has been covered by many musicians in the past and none of them have ever sounded as close to Roberta Black’s original as this. The new song ‘All Is Said’ is also lovely and Cardle’s vocals and guitar strumming are as unique as ever.
What I like about Matt Cardle is that (unlike most previous X Factor winners) he has partly written most of the songs himself instead of having other people do it all for him, i respect this because it shows that he is trying his hardest to create brilliant music for us all. The first time I listened to this single ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’, I went straight out to buy it because his rendition is so emotional and with his falsetto vocals, he sounds close to how Roberta Black sounded when she sang the original which is very impressive and from what I have said already, you have probably already guessed that this is my favourite song from the album because it is so beautifully sung by cardle and makes the listener feel many different emotions such as joy and sorrow.
If you enjoyed hearing Matt’s breathtaking performances on The X Factor and want more, or even if you didn’t and are looking for a new musician to get into, then I recommend that you pick this album up and play it non-stop because BELIEVE ME, you’ll want to. My rating for this single is 5 out of 5 stars because it packs the brilliant single ‘Amazing’, a brand new song ‘All Is Said’, a live performance of ‘Slowly’ and the stunning cover of Roberta Black’s ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’.
