Back in May, we invited Leicester’s number one standup comic Rob Gee to impart his poetic wisdom upon our Rockhaq writers. During that workshop we had everything from the apocalypse to goth unicorns making an appearance! 🖤🦄
We asked Rob to come back to our November workshops a few weeks ago and weave his lyrical magic once more. So what happened this time?

WHAT HAPPENED AT CLUB ROCKHAQ: MONTH NINE?

This month saw Rob develop the Club Rockhaq students’ lyric writing and poetry skills even further. He had everyone engaged in playing word games and then moved from this to writing their own songs and poems. One student chose to write about the space time continuum, whereas others in our Oadby Library group selected Rastafarians, Richard Branson stealing a vest and the wondrous, fluffy life of unicorns.

Our second workshop group at The BRITE Centre also chose a wide range of topics to write about including the class bully, an intergalactic space race, a best friend and aliens taking over at school. Again, Rob’s workshops were very well received by both groups and we look forward to working with Rob again over the course of 2020.

 

WE ARE NOW BOOKING FOR 2020!

Yes, we are now booking places for our Club Rockhaq workshops in 2020! We have a few places available at Oadby Library and The BRITE Centre for the next year so get involved if you want to move on up!

Club Rockhaq Writing/Journalism Workshops 2020
  • Saturday 1 February at Oadby Library, Leicestershire: Club Rockhaq Music Journalism and Creative Writing Workshops. Time: 10am-12pm. Ages 8 and upwards. Cost: £5 per workshop or £30 for all of 2020.
  • This will continue on the following dates: Saturday 7 March, Saturday 4 April, Saturday 2 May, Saturday 6 June, Saturday 4 July. Our workshops will break for August and resume in September 2020.
  • Saturday 1 February at The BRITE Centre, Leicester: Club Rockhaq Music Journalism and Creative Writing Workshops. Time: 1pm-3pm. Ages 8 and upwards. Cost: £3 per workshop or £20 for all of 2020. (discount subject to address check).
  • This will continue on the following dates: Saturday 7 March, Saturday 4 April, Saturday 2 May, Saturday 6 June, Saturday 4 July. Our workshops will break for August and resume in September 2020.
