Rockhaq Workshops at Everybody's Reading Festival 2018

We’re pleased to reveal that we’re running some special Rockhaq Workshops at Everybody’s Reading Festival 2018. A very big thanks to Paul and Elaine at Leicester City Libraries and Kim at Oadby Library for their support and time to help us run these upcoming writer’s workshops.

We’re running three different workshops in Leicester City and Leicestershire Libraries next week, with three different groups of young people. Two workshops are taking place at The BRITE Centre in Leicester and are officially part of Everybody’s Reading Festival 2018. Our final workshop is taking place at Oadby Library in the County and is not part of the City festival but is during the same week. Our Oadby Library workshop is for all young writers aged 14+ and our BRITE Centre workshops are divided into a young writer’s group (ages 8-13) and a senior writer’s group (ages 14+). All workshops next week are free to attend – but you’ve got to book your space as places are limited.

Rockhaq Workshops at Everybody’s Reading Festival 2018

All Rockhaq Workshops will be led by Rockhaq Community founder and editor Michelle Dhillon. They will include a careers overview in Music Journalism with an introduction to The Rockhaq Community. These one-off workshops will get young writers reading key music reviews from major music events – such as Radiohead at Glastonbury Festival in 1997, The Sex Pistols at Manchester Free Trade Hall in 1976 and Taylor Swift at LA Staples Center in 2015. They will then be asked to share their thoughts on the best and worst parts of these reviews.

Our Rockhaq Workshops at Everybody’s Reading Festival 2018 may include special guest appearances from key Rockhaq Community members who have gone on to write their own music reviews on The Rockhaq Community. We hope to inspire a new generation of young Rockhaq Community members by inviting these members to talk at the workshops.

To reserve your place for any of these workshops, just fill out some details on our Club Rockhaq booking page. To find out more about how we run a typical workshop and hear students and teachers thoughts, check out our Schools page.
