Single Review: Paramore - Monster

This is Paramore’s first new material after the Farro brothers’ infamous departure in 2010. The question for fans is, can Paramore possibly deliver something exceptional that will have fans and the music industry absolutely flabbergasted?

Paramore released “Monster” in 2011 as their first single as a trio consisting of Hayley Williams, Taylor York and Jeremy Davis. The powerful comeback left many fans surprised at what they had produced in the studio. It feels as if the trio are addressing the world and saying that they haven’t backed down just yet and still have a lot to say for themselves. In essence, Monster has a voice of it’s own which what makes it a flawless track. Their new sound has a really distinctive quality that catches the listener’s attention immediately. This is so brilliantly incorporated into the song because of the way it brings out a side of the band that has never been really exposed on any of their previous albums.

I couldn’t recommend this track enough! If you’re a fan, or not, you should definitely give this song a few minutes of your time. It offers something fresh and unique which leaves the listener at the edge of their seat.

As always, the petite but energetic flame-haired frontwoman Hayley Williams’ vocals show finesse as well as a haunting quality that reflects her emotions. She teams this with intelligent yet poignant lyrics. As well as Williams’ impressive vocals, the listener should pay homage to and admire the quiet magician of Paramore, Taylor York, who also helped to write and arrange the song. Not only has he played guitar on this track but he drums as well; so in my eyes, York is practically a God!

I couldn’t recommend this track enough! If you’re a fan, or not, you should definitely give this song a few minutes of your time. It offers something fresh and unique which leaves the listener at the edge of their seat. Monster sounds like the heavier side to alternative rock which is wonderful because Paramore seem to have found a new direction to head towards. If this is the future of Paramore, then count me in!
