Single Review: Miguel – Quickie
This man is an absolute genius! Miguel Jontel is an American recording artist, songwriter and producer. Miguel grew up listening to classic rock, hip hop, funk and R ‘n’ B music. He originally wanted to become a dancer and his inspiration was the King of Pop Michael Jackson. When Miguel was just thirteen, he began pursuing a career in music.
Miguel also plays the guitar. His music is definitely something new to listen to as he creates a mixture of R ‘n’ B, funk, hip hop, rock and electronic tunes. I don’t know any other artists who do this so I would describe his style as quirky and really different.
Quickie was released in 2011 from his debut album All I Want Is You. This song is slow, quite jazzy and very raunchy. It’s very obvious what the song is about just from hearing the title ‘Quickie’. Also hearing lyrics like “I just wanna quickie, no bite marks, no scratches and no hickies” is naughty but nice. I like the fact that he is brave enough to say it how it is. This song is one of my favourites at the moment and I’ve listened to it over and over again. His voice is one of the most beautiful and sexy I have heard in a while. I wouldn’t be able to say he sounds a bit like this person or that person because he has a very unique vocal style and I love it.
This song is one to listen to. I f you like this then you may also like ‘Be My Vixen’. The lyrics in that track are also quite raunchy but sweet at the same time. Miguel has worked with other artists like Asher Roth, Usher, J Cole and Musiq Soulchild. He is not as well-known as he should be so I hope to see a lot more of him this year.
