Yes, you read that right! After our interview with the lovely Rupal Rajani on BBC Radio Leicester in April, she sent “roving reporter” Dale Neal to our May Club Rockhaq workshop. This meant our Oadby Library workshop went out live on Rupal’s Saturday morning show. And if that wasn’t enough, we had all-round smashing chap Rob Gee visit to impart his lyrical wisdom upon the two library groups. We’re really not sure how we’re going to top this, going forward. It all made for an action-packed month that resulted in songs on various topics – from the apocalypse to goth unicorns! 🖤🦄

Our third month of Club Rockhaq creative writing workshops saw everyone finish their first reviews – and some even started and finished their second reviews in the same workshop. This was a brilliant achievement. So brilliant, that all our writers were rewarded with well-deserved Easter eggs at the end 🥚🤗

We had an awesome time at our second month of Club Rockhaq workshops in Leicester last weekend. Thank you to all workshop learners and parents for coming along/encouraging your youngsters to attend. It was exciting to see the range of creative music reviews that are being written and it’s brilliant to see how quickly every writer has progressed since month one. We’re also pretty full at both libraries, which is great news 🙂

We’ve almost recovered from running our opening Club Rockhaq workshops at Oadby Library & The BRITE Centre last weekend. Phew! A last minute flurry of signups for Oadby made for a long and jam-packed day for us, but we absolutely loved it! A massive thank you to everyone who came along and worked so hard in your opening session. It’s given us a lot to think about when we plan the rest of our monthly Club Rockhaq workshops. I’d also like to say thanks to Paul who said hi to me when I was setting up at Oadby Library. You brought back many nostalgic memories about working at Leicester’s De Montfort Hall in the early noughties. An unexpected but apt blast from the past 😀

We’re pleased to announce Club Rockhaq workshops are coming to Leicester and Leicestershire Libraries. Thanks to Arts Council England, Leicester City Council Braunstone Ward Funding, Paul and Elaine at Leicester City Libraries and Kim at Oadby Library for helping these workshops to take place. Thank you, peeps! 😀
Our Club Rockhaq places are being booked up fast, though. Only a few places are left at The BRITE Centre at the time of publishing, so please reserve your spot as soon as possible. No money is needed to reserve.
These are two-hour creative writing workshops. All young people write their own work, using music and media as inspiration.
