Team Rockhaq believe in rewarding the top students in our community with pre-release music, concert tickets and interview opportunities with bands they would love to speak to. We call these Rockhaq Missions. Soul girl Ashton Bryan was awarded a pair of live tickets to see Nicki Minaj at Birmingham NIA and here’s what she really made of the UK’s first Pink Friday tour. Enjoy 😉
I had been waiting for Nicki Minaj to do a UK tour ever since she broke out into the music world. I must say I felt quite special being able to watch this performance as it was her first ever UK tour and first ever show in Birmingham. I knew what Nicki Minaj was all about well before going to the show.
This man is an absolute genius! Miguel Jontel is an American recording artist, songwriter and producer. Miguel grew up listening to classic rock, hip hop, funk and R ‘n’ B music. He originally wanted to become a dancer and his inspiration was the King of Pop Michael Jackson. When Miguel was just thirteen, he began pursuing a career in music.
This has got to be one of the best collaborations I have ever heard. My favourite male vocalist Robin Thicke and one of my favourite rappers Lil Wayne get together on one track. This was released from Robin Thicke’s fifth album Love after War. This is a big track. It is definitely something different to listen to rather than the everyday R ‘n’ B or hip hop we hear.
The one really shocking thing I learned from tonight’s show is that Drake has some racist fans. Yes, you read that right. Racists will pay good money to go and see a black guy rap. No joke. When we sat down in our seats, two idiots behind us were staring at audience members and muttering “Get the n**-n**s out of here!”
This is an absolutely incredible collaboration right here: Monica, Rick Ross and Lil Kim with Anything To Have You, which was released in October 2011. Old skool singer Monica shows us she still got it with her powerful but also beautiful voice. She has been singing since the age of thirteen and has been one of the best female vocalists ever since.
Here’s something fresh for your ears: Scottish/Iranian beauty queen Yasmin Shahmir has come into the music world with something a little different. You might not have heard of her much as she has only released two solo singles so far which are ‘On My Own’ and ‘Finish Line’ and three collaborations.
OMG Girls (Officially Miss Guided) are back with a bang this year with their fresh new single Gucci This, Gucci That, which was released at the beginning of February. The group was formed by singer and also mother of one of the group members Tameka ‘Tiny’ Cottle in 2009.
Since then, the RnB girl group has gone from 4 members to 3 who go by the name of Beauty, Star and Babydoll aged 14, 15 and 16.
Pop princess Rihanna has smashed it yet again with her sixth album Talk That Talk. This album features well-known releases such as We Found Love which is produced by Calvin Harris and You Da One. Since 2005 we have heard the award-winning superstar go from reggae to pop, then from rock to dance – she has done it all! Talk That Talk is the best album by far.
