The great irony of MGMT’s already greatly ironic single Time to Pretend is the success it brought them. Despite skewering the rockstar lifestyle and pop music itself, Time to Pretend was the first of three surprise hits from the American indie duo. Three hits they’ve been running away from ever since. Their debut album, 2007’s Oracular Spectacular, spent its second side immersed in freaky, jagged psychedelia.
We’ve just finished our second Music Journalism workshop at Ashbourne Library in Derbyshire for the Writing East Midlands Young Writer’s Group. The first workshop took place on 6 February 2018 and catered for 8-11 year olds. Last night’s workshop was for 12-16 year olds and we saw just as much talent and hard work in the senior writer’s group. We even had a parent eager to join The Rockhaq Community at the end 😉
